Florida baseball releases 2024 baseball schedule, opens with St. John’s

Of UF’s 56 regular season games, 34 are at home. Nearly half (25) are against NCAA Tournament teams from last season, with 18 of the first 24 games in Gainesville.

The Florida Gators will open the season hosting St. John’s at Condron Family Ballpark from Feb. 16-18, one of three weekend non-conference, three-game series. Florida also will host Columbia (Feb. 23-25) and Saint Mary’s (March 8-10) in weekend non-conference series and travel to Miami (March 1-3).

Florida will open SEC play hosting Texas A&M from March 15-17, then travel to LSU baseball from March 22-24 in a rematch of the two schools that met in the College World Series Finals last June.

Florida posted a 1.63 ERA in Regional play and 2.00 ERA in Super Regional play. The Gators have posted two shutouts in their last three games, with a 6-0 win over Texas Tech to clinch the Gainesville Regional and a 4-0 win over South Carolina to clinch the Gainesville Super Regional.

Junior righty starter Hurston Waldrep (9-3, 4.15 ERA, 142 strikeouts in 93.1 IP) is locating his split-change for strikes and has been dominant of late, going 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA in his last two postseason starts. Waldrep has struck out 25 over his last 15 innings, with just four walks during that span.
