When did harry maguire join manchester united ? Manchester United have accepted a bid from West Ham to sign defender Harry Maguire in a deal worth in the region of £30m, Hammers boss David Moyes has confirmed. Personal terms are not expected to be a problem but there is still work to do on the details of his exit from United.

West Ham, though, are cautiously optimistic about completing the signing having had a £20m bid for the England international rejected last month.

“I wouldn’t talk about players at other clubs, but what I can say is yes, we’ve had a bid accepted from Manchester United,” Moyes told his press conference on Friday. “But while he’s not my player, I don’t think it’s my place to discuss him really.”

Maguire has trained with Man Utd this week and manager Erik ten Hag has said on Friday he is available for the club’s Premier League opener against Wolves on Monday Night Football.

United have done due diligence on several defenders, including Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice, should they be in a position to sign reinforcements at centre-back for Maguire and Eric Bailly, whose representatives have held talks with Al Nassr.

Man Utd expected to target Pavard if Maguire leaves

Sources in Germany are expecting Manchester United to make a move for Benjamin Pavard if Maguire leaves the club.

Manchester United are continuing to do due diligence on a number of defenders and Sky Sports News has been told Pavard has emerged as a strong option.

Bayern Munich have known for a long time that the France international wants to leave. One source says Pavard wants to move to United and negotiations are ongoing.

The right-back, who can also play at centre-back, has one year left on his deal and is expected to cost £30m to £35m. He has previously been linked with Manchester City, Liverpool and Barcelona.

Bayern wanted to replace Pavard with Manchester City’s Kyle Walker, but he is staying with the Premier League champions.

Ward-Prowse having West Ham medical

After West Ham reached a full agreement with Southampton over the signing of midfielder James Ward-Prowse, the midfielder took part in a medical on Friday as he looks to complete the move.

“We’re not denying that James Ward-Prowse is having a medical with us just now,” Moyes added.

“I don’t think it’s right that we talk about players when we haven’t actually signed them yet. But the fact of the matter is we’ve agreed a fee and he’s having a medical now.”

The deal is worth the £30m that was rejected last month but with more favourable payment terms and conditions for Southampton.

Man City bid for Paqueta rejected

Moyes also confirmed that West Ham have rejected an offer from Manchester City for midfielder Lucas Paqueta, after sources told Sky Sports News that City are prepared to pay £60m.

“We’ve had an offer from Manchester City, it’s not close enough to our valuation to make us think that way,” Moyes said. “So at the moment, we have no decision [to make].”

West Ham dismissed an initial approach from City as it was “in no way deemed acceptable”, Sky Sports News was also told.

It’s thought the Hammers will not even begin to consider selling the Brazil international, who joined last summer on a five-year contract in a club-record £51m deal, for less than £85m.

Paqueta has a buyout clause in his contract but it cannot be triggered until next summer. However, it’s understood Paqueta’s head has been turned by the interest of the treble winners.

Paqueta scored five goals last season after a slow start in east London, becoming a key part of their Europa Conference League success.

On Monday, Man Utd rejected a £30m bid from West Ham for Scott McTominay. United, who value him at closer to £45m, are happy to keep him, but he’s also viewed as the biggest sale they could make this summer.

West Ham are yet to go back in with an improved offer.

Centre-back signs six-year contract with Red Devils after transferring from Leicester City for an undisclosed fee

Harry Maguire has completed a transfer to Manchester United from Leicester City.

Maguire has signed a six-year contract at Old Trafford, with an option for a further year, for an undisclosed fee that is a club-record sale for Leicester.

He becomes United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s third signing of the summer, after Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

“From my conversations with the manager, I am excited about the vision and plans he has for the team,” Maguire told the club’s official website.

“It’s clear to see that Ole is building a team to win trophies. I am now looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and getting the season started.”

After coming through Sheffield United’s academy, the centre-back joined Hull City in 2014/15 and made his Premier League breakthrough that season.

An impressive 2016/17 campaign led Leicester to sign Maguire from the Tigers in the summer of 2017.

He made 69 Premier League appearances across two seasons for Leicester, and he starred in England’s run to the semi-finals of both the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 UEFA Nations League.

The 26-year-old could make his Man Utd debut when they host Chelsea in their Premier League season opener on Sunday 11 August.

Man Utd complete Maguire signing in world-record £80m deal

The Red Devils finally landed their man as they look to improve on a disappointing sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season

Manchester United have completed the signing of Harry Maguire from Leicester City in an £80 million ($97m) deal that sees the centre-back sign a six-year contract, with the option of a further year, at Old Trafford.

The long-running saga came to an end on Monday as the England international put pen to paper to become part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s rebuild at the Theatre of Dreams.

The move sees Maguire surpass Virgil van Dijk to become the most expensive defender of all time, with the Netherlands international having joined Liverpool for £75m in January 2018.

Fans have been calling for defensive reinforcements for some time at United, with many believing Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic to have been the last two truly reliable centre-halves at the club.

Solskjaer said upon the announcement of Maguire’s arrival: “Harry is one of the best centre-backs in the game today and I am delighted we have secured his signature.

“He is a great reader of the game and has a strong presence on the pitch, with the ability to remain calm under pressure – coupled with his composure on the ball and a huge presence in both boxes – I can see he will fit well into this group both on and off the pitch.

”He has a great personality and is a fantastic addition to the club.

“I would like to welcome Harry to Manchester United and we are looking forward to working with him as we prepare for the new season.”

Maguire added: “I am delighted to have signed for this great club. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Leicester and would like to thank everyone at the club, and the fans, for their fantastic support over the past two seasons.

“However, when Manchester United come knocking on your door, it is an incredible opportunity.

”From my conversations with the manager, I am excited about the vision and plans he has for the team. It’s clear to see that Ole is building a team to win trophies. I am now looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and getting the season started.”

A sixth-place finish in the Premier League last term following Solskjaer’s appointment to replace Jose Mourinho in the dugout was considered a hugely disappointing return for a club of United’s stature and Maguire is seen as a ready-made edition to aid in their mission to return to challenging for the English top-flight crown and the Champions League.

Maguire becomes United’s third signing of the summer following the earlier arrivals of Daniel James from Swansea City and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.
